How To Break Out Of Depression
The concrete techniques to break out of depression. End your depression right now by following the practical formulation of this article.
On your journey to become better with women, getting depressed is guaranteed. For whatever reason(s), you might fall into depression and victimhood. Although there are certainly similarities between victimhood and depression, these two are not the same, and you must correctly diagnose yourself so that you can use the right treatments.
What Is Depression?
How I defined depression is persistent sadness for over 3 weeks, leading to loss of motivation or disillusionment with progressing in your self-help journey. This usually results in you reverting back to your bad habits and coping behaviours.
Depression is really dangerous, because if left untreated, you can be depressed indefinitely. Most people can break out of depression naturally by finding a solution to their problems, but it does run the danger of becoming chronic if no solution is found.
Another thing I want you to realize is that happiness and contentment is something you have to work hard for, it's not a constitutional right. Your happiness is fragile, highly conditional and sensitive to your environment and circumstances.
Depression With A Clear Cause
If you can clearly pinpoint what is causing your depression, congratulations. This is the less severe form of depression called worrying. Worrying will alleviate by itself with time. This is just a result of something bad happening, and it triggers a mini grieving process.
If this is the case, just give yourself some time and know that it will pass. De-stress and do the things you enjoy. Stop worrying about it, because worry is never helpful under any circumstance.
When you are worrying, you are actually visualizing the worst-case scenario. That means that everytime you worry, you are manifesting the outcome you don't want into your life, causing you to be even more depressed.
What you need to do is to flip the script every time you worry. Instead of worrying about the worst outcome possible, you want to worry about the best outcome possible. Positive worrying helps you visualize the best outcome possible and manifest it into your life.
Depression With No Cause
Chronic depression is usually caused by a problem with no solution in sight. You become heavily victimized, and are unable to mobilize yourself towards a solution. This is partly caused by ignorance and a sense of hopelessness.
What you need to realize is that you are like a poor shivering animal who failed to prepare for the future. You could have prepared in the spring, summer and autumn. But now, winter has come and you lack the adequate resources to deal with the situation.
The only solution to this is to mobilize and fight so that you can survive the blistering cold. Do whatever is necessary to dig yourself out of the mess you created. Get educated, take action and get as much help as possible. Below is the four step process on how to do this.
Action Step #1 - "It Cannot Get Any Worse"
To become depressed, you are already entering into the danger zone. Know that it is your mind telling you that you are in danger. Tell yourself, "It cannot get any worse than this."
First, this helps you gain some optimism and comfort, because the situation cannot get any worse than what you are experiencing at the moment. Meaning, it can only get better if you take action from here on.
Second, it helps you admit the current situation you are in. By admitting to yourself that you are in a bad position, and that it cannot get any worse, you take the first step to psychologically to open up.
Action Step #2 - Face The Music
A lot of what depression is caused by is hopelessness. A sense that you cannot overcome the challenge ahead of you. Notice that this is simply not true, reflect on your past and all the problems you have solved. You are still alive today!
We must critically analyze what is actually going on in our lives. Objectively see, and break down the problem you have. Look at the truth in the eyes. Are the thoughts you're thinking actually true?
Only when you see the real problem and situation in its true light, you remove all the exaggeration and stories you tell yourself. This reframe will immediately remove the sense of hopelessness and put you into the next step.
Action Step #3 - Responsibility
Now that we have made eye contact with the truth, we must now take full responsibility for what we see. Focus on what you can do to fix this problem for yourself. Tell yourself, "I am responsible for the position I put myself in, and I am responsible to dig myself out"
There can be no solution when we do not take ownership of our problems. You cannot magically wait for a solution to come. You are in the middle of winter, and you are going to turn into an ice cube if you don't take any action.
No angel is coming to save you. You must psychologically mobilize yourself to take action and gather the necessary psychological resources to put yourself to action. This is only possible when you take full ownership.
Action Step #4 - Fight
Now that you have taken full ownership, go out there and get it done now! This is the time to take massive action and execute upon your plan. Do not take baby steps, baby steps wont pull you out of depression.
It is important that you did the previous three steps properly, or else I won't be successful in pulling you out of depression. Re-read step one to three again if you still feel unmotivated to tackle your problem. At this point, you should be filled with energy and optimism.
Therapy
Therapists are generally unable to help you solve your depression. The reason is that they likely do not have the expertise to help you navigate the practical challenges you face in your life.
The role of a therapist is just to sit there and let you express your thoughts with no judgment whatsoever. If you can afford therapy, I would recommend therapists using the way I have just described.
It is important to know that sometimes therapists can dig you deeper into depression by offering defunct techniques that doesn't work or even worse, prescribe you medication. Under these circumstances, change your therapist.
You do not require medication unless you have a genetical hardware problem. For most people, depression is caused by a software problem. It can be solved with the help of a specialized coach, not medication.
Most of the time, you are only one action away, one information away, one reframe away and one opportunity away from solving your depression. You just need to put on the right glasses to see them.
You Can Choose To be Happy Right Now
Believe it or not, but depression is self-inflicted. You choose to be depressed right now. There is no divine force forcing you to be unhappy. Why can't you choose to be happy right now?
I'll tell you why. It is because you simply just don't accept the current situation you are in. You are in denial. It is also why my four-step process above was so effective, because it helps you accept the present moment.
Know that you can choose to be happy right now, only in the present moment can we solve our problems. Put a smile on your face and face the challenges of life gracefully. Life is filled with problems, and if you get depressed over and over again by every one of them, you are going to have a miserable life.
Conclusion
As long as the issue is not resolved, depression will pop up again. Use the process and re-read this article as many times as you need to. Education regarding depression in our current society is extremely poor, and I hope you have learnt something from this article.
